Many property and business owners become part of an Improvement District because they see the value in keeping their businesses in a clean and safe environment.
So, what does that mean for the surrounding communities? There are some communities that are not quite sure whether or not Improvement Districts benefit the community. One of your goals should be to outreach to the local communities and get the heartbeat of what’s really going on in the district
An very easy way to accomplish this is to form or establish relationships with local community organizations. Connect with those organizations that are geared towards helping people and line up with your districts values. By doing this, the entire community is positively impacted.
Be the Business Improvement District that’s known to help the local community
There are so many of these types of organizations that are local to your district. When you take this extra step, it really does show the surrounding businesses and communities that you are looking to impact the community as a whole, not just your districts geo footprint.
The more the local community can see that you want to be part of the bigger picture, the more likely they are to support you in your own district endeavors. That means more are likely they are to do business with your district.
Here are a few California examples:
- W.E.A.V.E
- Champions for Change
- FIRST 5 Commission
- Lunch Bunch Meetings
- Sacramento Helping Hands Foundation
There are so many in you area that would love to connect with you and your district. They want to partner with you to get their message out there. If this lines up with your district values, then this is a win win situation for everybody. Simply put, this is just a way to show that you care for everyone involved.
I hope this helps!
